I just came across this TED Talk again. It’s an oldie-but-goodie reminder of why we do what we do (or at least one good reason). Check it out! https://youtu.be/h11u3vtcpaY

We’re getting down to the wire, homeschool friends!
Do you need help: *Getting your Evaluation turned in? I still have some in-person time slots available the last week of August (the deadline for most). And there is always my easy online option! *Planning your school year? Choosing curriculum? Looking for resources? *Creating your high school student’s transcript? Understanding credits and “what counts”? Or do you just need to bounce some ideas off another homeschool mom who’s been there? Send me a message via my Contact page here, or on Facebook (Mosaic Academic Evaluations). I’d love to work with you! :) Much to my chagrin, the blogging piece of my website has fallen by the wayside. I hope to improve in this area in the future, especially now that I have a little more time on my hands!
Last May, our older son graduated from high school, and will soon be attending language school in Japan. And this past fall our younger son began attending Front Range Community College. You read that right -- he is still a junior in high school, but thanks to the Colorado Early Colleges (CEC) charter school, he's able to attend college for "free!" (And yes, I put that in quotes on purpose, since technically it's our tax dollars at work. 😉 Ask me how you can make it work for your students too!) Yep, we're just a little proud of both them! But I digress! All that to say, I suddenly find myself with a little more time to devote to working on all those things I've neglected for a while. (Older Mom Pro Tip: If you're a younger parent, make yourself a list of all the things you want to do when your kids are "out of the nest." Trust me, you might not remember later. 😅 Thanks to my friend Anna for that truth nugget!) I've also been able to add a couple of new features to Mosaic Academic Evaluations. For the last couple of years, I've had the privilege of working on transcripts with FACE (Family Academy of Christian Education) high school students. This has been a wonderful opportunity for me to become educated on what goes into a solid transcript, and I now offer general transcript guidance. I’m also available for basic dual enrollment advice. Please contact me if you'd like to schedule a consultation (or of course if you need an evaluation). I know many of you are starting to think about end-of-year testing or evaluation. If you're leaning toward the latter, remember to keep a few *dated* work samples from primarily math and language arts! (Other subjects are welcome, but get those in for sure :) ) Make sure to have something from the beginning, middle, and end of the school year so you can showcase your child's progress. This isn't limited to workbook pages! Check out the FAQ page on my website for more ideas :)
Welcome to the very first blog post of Mosaic Academy Academic Evaluations and Consultation :) I’m looking forward to building all sorts of helpful homeschool resources into upcoming posts. Along the way, I might throw in personal thoughts, favorite recipes, family adventures, and the like.
